LINI’s VISION
- To establish a more credible framework for nation-wide coastal marine resources management and conservation
- To see a more responsible, sustainable use of coastal marine resources based on accurate scientific data, and firmer links between responsible, well-informed traders and other stakeholders.
LINI’s MISSION
- To promote more effective conservation and management of coastal marine resources
- To promote the development of a sustainable and responsible marine aquarium trade through training of fishermen and coastal communities in ‘best practices’, development of No-take areas, private sector engagement through development of trade chains that use ‘best practices’; and the development of Area Management Plans for sustainable ornamental fisheries.
- To build the capacity of coastal communities to better manage the marine resources on which they depend for a living, through training and mentoring.
- To conduct research and monitoring of coastal resources, including coral reef fisheries, resource assessments, and socio-economic surveys
- To assist the Indonesian government in policy development for coastal zone management, and community-based aquaculture and coral propagation for reef restoration.
- To provide an information source of baseline- and series data about coral reef fisheries for the marine aquarium trade.
